Yummy Bedrooms

Absolutely love the console at the base of the bed. What a wonderful idea! This room was created by Suzanne Kasler-Atlanta GA
The bench at the foot of the bed is a classic. B is for beautiful!
Pow! How hot is this Hollywood Regency kelly green bed? Love the chairs framing the bed acting as nightstands. How daring!

Nobody Knows

One of Marcia Van Doren's paintings in my home. How lucky I am to own the original. I have 5 paintings from her and can't wait to collect more. She magically works her way through the alphabet and seduces us with her craft. I imagine so much when I look at her work.

Some Home Shopping Favorites

For some killer inspiration we love visiting Great Jones Home in downtown Seattle. They boldly pair old and new.  It can be pricey but the pieces make such a statement. (Nevermind that I am longing for a $385.00 lampshade.)  The store offers unusual furniture pieces and art, lovely bedding, linens, books, jewels, lamps and beautiful candle collections. It is a visual feast!
A Stager's dream store. We get to blow into Moe's,  pick out our furniture, immediately load it into our truck and head to the jobsite. They make our work day effortless. The staff is hip and helpful. The showroom is huge and most everything is stylish and affordable. Moe's is located down in the SODO area of Seattle. We love Moe's!

Now for the grungy shopping experience. Antique Liquidators. A 3 story warehouse brimming with wonderful finds located in the South Lake Union neighborhood. You have to do some serious hunting and gathering here. Never mind the price tag-everything is negotiable. The staff is really nice and very helpful.

Loving Art

Complete sweetness!

I came across this artist's work in a tiny shop in Wallingford. Fell head over heels in love with his collection of bird paintings. My personal piece measures only about 8"x 8". It sweetly sits on my "alter" where I admire it while standing at my sink cleaning up after a family feeding. It's a quiet visual for me and brings me a ton of joy. And what fun to own original art.

He will also paint a portrait of your pet. They are so cute on his website and blog.

Many Hats

Staging is glamorous!

Sister extraordinaire has her building hat on. You have to do a bit of everything on the job site. Tara is putting together a great coffee table from West Elm-a Portland find.

Staging Shots

We tried something different on this mantle. It's hip and bold. The West Elm inspired lanterns create a nice balance. A sitting area in a to-die-for master bedroom.

This is a modern job in an up and coming neighborhood in Seattle. This setting was used for a photo shoot for Seattle's Sound Magazine. Very laid back cool. We had fun creating this look.

Fabric Inspiration

Once again we road trip to Portland and land at our favorite spot-Fabric Depot. One of the largest fabric stores in the nation! It's really bad but really good. The store itself is visually uninspiring but the energy is amazing. "What are you making?" Everyone is inquiring! The person that cuts your fabric wants to know what you are creating, those that are standing in line and the person ringing you up. It's crazy with creativity!

Eventually we get into fits of laughter. It's what us sisters do. Everything has the potential for a good laugh.

Our finds: I bought white vinyl to (occasionally) cover my icey blue dining table and give it a modern look. I plan to set the table with my vintage china and POW! A collision of old and new. Way cool. Also, some Hollywood Regency inspired fabric for window panels that I will craft myself. I just need to pull out my vintage Viking sewing machine and I'm off!
My sister extraordinaire found some killer Robert Kaufman inspired navy & taupe fabric. A spring board for a new master bedding ensemble. Very current. She also purchased a chocolate & cream Robert Allen knock off that she has been eyeing for herself (oink) or a client (lucky dog). Tara also found (in a random cart pushed off to the side ) a modern floral for amazing throw pillows for her ever-so-hip office. Last but not least some designs that inspired her for the next production of her lunch bags. http://www.coolconservation.com/ .

Our young interns. Portland Rocks!

Sweet Vignette

A sweet vignette from the 2009 Hampton's Designer Show house. Love how well the vintage phone marries with the hip chair and modern Lucite side table. It's a simple recipe that is not difficult to achieve. Look around your house and challenge yourself to grab a chair from a room, a side table from another room, and some cool accessories, books, photos and see if you can create your own vignette with your personal signature.
